I’m coming by myself.

Is that okay?

 

Yes!  While many of our guests arrive solo, learning to surf can be an exciting challenge and a great group bonding experience.  You may arrive by yourself but you will leave with new friends!

I‘ve never surfed before - will I be able to keep up with the group?

 

Surf Bikini Retreat may be one of the best locations for novice surfers in the world. Not only are the gentle, forgiving waves at Playa Guiones consistent, very rarely does a single day go by where there won’t be something to ride. Our personalized instruction, combined with Nosara’s ideal ocean conditions, make our retreat a perfect introduction to the sport.  Our guests are of all ages and skill levels

Can the meals be customized to my dietary preferences?

 

Yes, let us know in advance and we can accommodate your specific dietary needs including vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.

What time of year is the “best time” to visit Surf Bikini Retreat ?

 

The weather and waves are spectacular all year around. Surf Bikini Retreat runs from November to August.

Can I bring my own surfboard?

 

We provide everything you need to learn to surf and have boards of all shapes and sizes.  You are of course welcome to bring your own surfboard however be aware of your airline’s fees for oversized baggage.

Can I request a customized package?

 

Of course. As a boutique resort, Surf Bikini Retreat prides itself on doing its best to accommodate specific guest needs. For special requests, we ask you to contact us and inform us of special requests as much in advance as possible.

What’s the best way to book?


 Contact us at surfbikininosara@gmail.com and let us know the dates you are considering. If we have availability, we ask for 25% deposit to hold your place (Not refundable). The final balance is due four weeks prior to your arrival date. If you choose to make your final payment via PayPal the 6.8% PayPal fee will be added to your final balance.

What do I need to bring for this trip?

 

For surfwear we recommend you bring 2 or 3 surf swimsuits, sport bikinis or a regular swimsuit with a bright-colored rash-guard.  Wetsuits are not needed in Nosara.  A few more personal items we recommend you bring.

 

However, here are some additional suggestions: 

  • How much free time will I have?

  • -Beach sandals
  • -At least SPF 30+ waterproof sunblock
  • -Sunglasses and Sun hat
  • -Yoga clothes (shorts are better than long pants in our climate)
  • -Small flashlight
  • -Money in USD (There are also ATMs in Nosara).
  • -Valid passport with at least 3 months remaining before the expiry date.
  • -Closed-toed hiking/tennis shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
  • -Insect repellent
  • -Beachwear (tanks, shorts, and short skirts), and a few casual nightwear items for dining out
  • -Any medications that are necessary for known medical conditions.
  • -Personal Toiletries
  • -Travel Insurance for medical expenses
  • -Lightweight Rain poncho during the start of the green season (May/June/July)

How much free time will I have?

A week at Surf Bikini Retreat involves a busy, fun schedule featuring a range of surf and wellness-related activities but nothing is mandatory.  Wednesday is your free day for shopping, relaxing, or one of the many activities available in Nosara such as Zip Lining, Horseback Riding, ATV Tours, Coffee Tour, and many other classes and wellness workshops around Nosara.

What is the perfect time to arrive at the camp?

 

Group airport pick up at Liberia is included if your flight arrives between Saturday 12-2 pm at no charge.  If you are already in Costa Rica we recommend arriving Saturday afternoon to settle in. The Retreat activities start on Sunday morning at 7:00 am. However, we hold a welcome dinner on Saturday evening for all new guests. This is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow surf school students.

When should I book my return flight?

 

The retreat ends on Friday afternoon, so we recommend you book your flights for Saturday afternoon between 12-2 pm to allow time for the 3-hour drive to the airport & 2 hours for check-in.

 

What if I can’t start on Saturday?

 

We try to accommodate special requests wherever possible. Let us know your ideal travel plans or get a group together and contact us to book a custom package.

How much free time will I have?

What’s the cancellation policy?

 

On a case-by-case basis and pending availability, Surf Bikini Retreat offers guests the option to “rain check” and reschedule their visit within 6 months following their cancellation without forfeiting their deposit. To protect your full investment we recommend the purchase of cancellation protection with your Travel Insurance.

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

 

In regards to COVID-19, we are taking this seriously. We want to not only keep you and ourselves safe but also our families and community.

 

What We are Doing:

We will be outdoors with social distance guidelines required for all meals, yoga and meditation practices, and all gatherings.

For any time spent inside, we will open the windows, turn on the fans, and require everyone to wear masks.

The surf coach and the student will adhere to social distancing guidelines for lessons in water and on land.  

Masks will be required any time we are in an automobile.

The villa (rooms and common areas) will be cleaned daily with special products

Antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer will be placed in all rooms for frequent hand washing and wiping down surfaces

Masks will be required for all guests and workers. 

Daily temperature checks will be required

We are providing:

-Hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap 

-Disinfectant for surfaces

-Masks

  • Your health is your responsibility. You are coming with informed consent.

What we ask of you:

-Think about your decisions and actions concerning the upcoming retreat. Therefore, knowing you have been responsible for yourself and others.

-Avoid potential exposure, by avoiding being in large crowds in the few weeks before the training.

-Do not come if you are sick. 

-Take your temperature every morning.

 

*Costa Rica does not require a Covid-19 test to enter the country.  Proof of accepted health insurance is required.  More information will be given on health insurance requirements once you apply.
